EPAS FilterShield Food Solids Filtration System
EPAS FilterShield is a professional food solids filtration system for commercial kitchens that want to stop coffee grounds, starch, rice, peelings, food particles and preparation waste before they enter the drainage system. It can work as a standalone solids filter or as a highly recommended pre-filtration stage before EPAS GreaseShield in kitchens with a high solids load.
Stop food solids before they become a drainage problem
In professional kitchens, solid food residues often enter wastewater long before grease becomes the main issue. Coffee grounds, rice, starch, potato peelings, vegetable waste, fish and meat trimmings can collect inside pipes, block drainage lines and increase the load on grease management systems. FilterShield helps separate these solids at the source.
Choose the right FilterShield model
FilterShield is configured by model and flow capacity. FS2000 offers the highest flow rate in a compact blue solids filtration unit, while FS1000 and FS1500 are premium stainless steel drawer-style filtration units with higher solids retention capacity.
FilterShield FS2000
Compact high-flow solids filtration unit for wastewater points where strong flow capacity is needed in a simpler filtration format.
FilterShield FS1000
Stainless steel drawer-style food solids filtration unit for preparation sinks, coffee machines, potato rumblers and professional kitchen wastewater points.
FilterShield FS1500
Larger stainless steel drawer-style filtration unit with increased solids capacity for busier professional kitchens and higher daily solids load.
Works alone — and works even better before GreaseShield
FilterShield can be used as a standalone food solids filtration system wherever solids in wastewater create risk for the drainage system. In kitchens with both grease and heavy solids, it is especially useful before GreaseShield because it reduces the amount of solid waste entering the grease management system.
Standalone solids filtration
Use FilterShield directly on suitable kitchen wastewater points to retain food solids before they reach the drainage system.
Before GreaseShield
Add FilterShield before GreaseShield when the kitchen produces high amounts of coffee grounds, rice, starch, vegetable peelings, potato waste or food preparation solids.
Where FilterShield makes sense
FilterShield is designed for food service and commercial kitchen environments where solids regularly enter wastewater during preparation, washing, coffee service or cleaning routines.
Preparation sinks
Helps retain vegetable peelings, fruit waste, food particles and preparation residues before they reach the drain.
Coffee stations
Useful where coffee grounds and fine organic particles create frequent sink and drainage problems.
Potato rumblers
Helps capture potato peelings, starch and solids from potato preparation and washing operations.
Mop sinks
Can help retain debris, cloth fibres, scouring pads and accidental solids before they enter the drainage line.
Restaurants & hotels
Supports cleaner wastewater management in daily preparation, washing and back-of-house routines.
Food service & production
Suitable for central kitchens, canteens, supermarkets and food preparation areas with regular solids load.
Typical solids retained by FilterShield
FilterShield is especially useful for kitchens where food solids are part of the daily wastewater stream. It helps keep these residues out of pipework and away from sensitive downstream grease management equipment.
Common food solids
- Coffee grounds
- Rice, starch and pasta residues
- Potato and vegetable peelings
- Fruit and vegetable preparation waste
- Fish and meat trimmings
- Small bones and kitchen preparation residues
Accidental sink waste
- Cleaning cloths
- Scouring pads
- String and small kitchen debris
- Food preparation particles
- Solids that should not enter pipework
- Waste that can overload grease management systems
Simple, robust and easy to integrate
FilterShield is a practical mechanical solution with no power requirement and no replaceable membrane filters. It is designed to be selected according to flow capacity, available space, maintenance access and the type of solids generated in the kitchen.
Project-based selection
The correct FilterShield model depends on the wastewater source, solids type, required flow capacity, available installation space, basket access clearance and plumbing layout. Send us photos of the installation area and the wastewater point, and we will help You select the right FS2000, FS1000 or FS1500 model.
