EPAS GreaseShield Project Configuration Options
EPAS GreaseShield systems are selected first by flow capacity, but the final project configuration depends on the real kitchen layout, wastewater source, solids load, dishwashing equipment, service access and installation requirements. This grouped product collects the most important GreaseShield configuration options and add-ons so You can build a complete professional kitchen wastewater solution around the correct base model.
Start with the base model, then configure the project
The main GreaseShield product should be selected by flow capacity: GS1000, GS1500, GS1850, GS2000, GS3000 or GS4000. After that, the correct project options are selected according to the contamination point and kitchen workflow. A small preparation sink does not need the same configuration as a hood dishwasher, a flight dishwasher, a combi oven or a large production kitchen.
Pre-filtration and specialist GreaseShield configurations
These options define how the GreaseShield system handles solids, special dishwashing applications or large-flow Defender configurations. They should be selected according to the selected base model and the actual wastewater source.
PreFilter Configuration
PF is used where food solids should be separated before or within the grease management process. It is typically relevant for preparation sinks, smaller pot-wash points and kitchens where solid residues enter wastewater together with fats, oils and grease.
Recommended compatibility: GS1000 and GS1850 project configurations.
Drawer PreFilter Configuration
DPF adds a drawer-style pre-filtration logic for easier access to retained solids. It is useful where daily cleaning, practical staff handling and higher food solids retention are important for the kitchen routine.
Recommended compatibility: GS1500 and GS2000 project configurations.
Dishwasher Configuration
DW is a specialist configuration for conveyor, tunnel or flight dishwasher applications. It should not be selected as a generic add-on; it is intended for specific high-volume dishwashing wastewater lines where the equipment type and flow pattern require the correct GreaseShield specialist setup.
Recommended compatibility: GS3000-DW for flight / conveyor / tunnel dishwasher projects.
Defender with FilterShield 4000 Configuration
The F / Defender configuration is designed for larger projects where GreaseShield is paired with a high-capacity FilterShield 4000 solids separation concept. It is especially relevant where large pot-wash areas, floor drains, tunnel dishwashers or large commercial kitchen wastewater lines create both high flow and high solids load.
Recommended compatibility: GS3000-F and GS4000-F specialist configurations.
Project add-ons for real kitchen installations
Some add-ons do not change the GreaseShield flow capacity, but they can be essential for a correct installation, easier maintenance or specific equipment connection. These options are selected after reviewing the kitchen layout, wastewater source and service access.
CombiPump Integration
CombiPump is used when contaminated wastewater from combi, steam, convection or similar cooking equipment needs to be transferred into the GreaseShield system. It is especially relevant when the equipment outlet position, distance or installation layout does not allow a simple gravity connection.
Typical use: combi ovens, convection steam ovens, stacked ovens and production kitchens where wastewater needs to be pumped to the correct grease management point.
GenieH2O In-Line Water Heater Configuration
GenieH2O is a project option for installations where in-line hot water support is required as part of the GreaseShield configuration. It should be specified only when the kitchen layout, water supply and equipment configuration justify this setup.
Typical use: project-specific GreaseShield configurations, specialist installations and cases where controlled hot water integration is part of the technical solution.
FlexiPlumb Plumbing Kit
FlexiPlumb accessories help connect and adapt the GreaseShield system to the existing or planned plumbing layout. This is useful in renovation projects, tight back-of-house spaces and professional kitchens where standard pipe alignment is not always ideal.
Typical use: connectors, bends, reducers, traps, sampling points and installation alignment around the GreaseShield system.
SanicShield Tablets Starter Pack
SanicShield Tablets are a practical maintenance support product for professional kitchen drainage routines. They are not a replacement for correct grease management, but they can support cleaner drain maintenance and odour control as part of a wider kitchen hygiene routine.
Typical use: professional kitchen maintenance routines, drain care and planned hygiene support after installation.
Which option should You choose?
The correct option depends on what creates the contamination. A sink full of vegetable peelings, rice and coffee grounds has a different problem than a flight dishwasher, a combi oven or a large production kitchen. Use the examples below as a practical starting point.
| Kitchen / equipment situation | Typical problem | Recommended option |
|---|---|---|
| Small pot-wash sink or single bowl preparation sink | Food solids and grease entering a smaller wastewater point | PF / PreFilter with GS1000 |
| Double bowl preparation sink or moderate pot-wash area | More daily solids, practical cleaning needed | DPF / Drawer PreFilter with GS1500 |
| Hood dishwasher with pre-rinse sink | Grease, food particles and higher wastewater load | PF with GS1850 or DPF with GS2000, depending on flow and layout |
| Large pot-wash, double / triple bowl sink | Higher flow and heavier solids load | DPF with GS2000 or specialist review |
| Flight / conveyor / tunnel dishwasher | Large dishwashing wastewater line | DW / Dishwasher configuration with GS3000 |
| Large kitchen, floor drains, tunnel dishwasher or production flow | High flow plus significant solids load | F / Defender with FilterShield 4000 on GS3000 or GS4000 |
| Combi / steam / convection oven wastewater | Equipment wastewater needs transfer to GreaseShield | CombiPump integration |
| Renovation or difficult plumbing route | Connection alignment, bends, reducers or sampling access | FlexiPlumb plumbing kit |
Example project configurations
These examples show how the base GreaseShield model and project options can be combined. Final selection should always be confirmed with the actual kitchen layout, equipment type and wastewater flow.
Small restaurant preparation area
Typical setup: GS1000 base model with PF / PreFilter configuration and FlexiPlumb kit. Designed for smaller preparation sinks and lower-flow kitchen wastewater points.
Café or brunch kitchen
Typical setup: GS1500 base model with DPF / Drawer PreFilter, especially where coffee grounds, food preparation solids and daily washing create a practical solids handling need.
Hotel kitchen with hood dishwasher
Typical setup: GS1850 with PF or GS2000 with DPF, selected according to sink size, pre-rinse layout and actual flow requirement.
Combi oven installation
Typical setup: compatible GreaseShield model with CombiPump integration when oven wastewater needs to be pumped into the grease management system.
Large institutional kitchen
Typical setup: GS2000-DPF or GS3000 specialist configuration, depending on pot-wash size, dishwashing equipment and daily wastewater load.
Resort or production kitchen
Typical setup: GS3000-F or GS4000-F with Defender / FilterShield 4000 configuration where high flow and heavy solids load must be managed together.
Why project configuration matters
A GreaseShield project is not only about choosing litres per second. The real performance depends on selecting the correct flow capacity, the correct solids handling configuration and the right installation accessories. This is why a professional project review is recommended before confirming the final offer.
Important compatibility note
Not every option is suitable for every GreaseShield base model. PF, DPF, DW, F / Defender, CombiPump and GenieH2O are project-specific selections. Before ordering, compatibility should be confirmed according to the selected base model, kitchen equipment, wastewater source, installation space and maintenance access.
